Donard Challenge – Last Minute Instructions

We have moved the Race HQ to a more salubrious location namely Newcastle Baptist Church Hall at 17, Bryansford Road (this is about 100mts from Donard Park).

Car parking at the hall is for race officials only and competitor’s car parking is in Donard Park.

Limited changing and showering facilities will be available in Donard Park Pavilion (there will be lots of hot water until it runs out !!).

Although this is technically a short race it climbs to 850mts where the wind chill at this time of the year can be severe. On Sunday past I measured the wind chill at -7 with wind speed of 40mph on the top, so as Race Director I have decided that all runners must carry full body cover plus hat and gloves. A full gear inspection will be carried out 10mins before the start so remember also to bring compass, whistle and map of the course.

There will be a photocopied map at registration if you require one.

Race Registration will open at 9.15am and close at 11.30am sharp.

Late entries will open at 9.15am and will close at 10.30am sharp. Note the time!!!

Race Safety Briefing will take place outside Donard Park Pavilion at 11.30am, this is compulsory as any last minute race course changes will be announced.

Race will start at 12noon.

Refreshments will be available from 1.45pm at Race HQ.

Prize Giving at 3.30pm or as soon as!!
