NI Orienteering are organising a introduction to navigation event on Divis Mountain – Sunday 18th January. The event will use a hybrid map (a sort of mix of an orienteering and OS map) and will be somewhere between orienteering type navigation and fell race type navigation.
There will be 2 courses to choose from, a Long (approx. 10km) and a Short (approx. 5km). The courses will be run individually and will be timed- however participant can do it at their own pace. There will be a short introduction to navigation beforehand. All you need is a pair of fell shoes and a simple compass (there will be some to borrow if you don’t have one).

The event will start at the National Trust car-park (LINK) at 12:00, Sunday 18th January. There will be a 1hr30 cut-off time from when you start.

It is essential you tell Allan Bogle (coaching@niorienteering.org.uk) by Tuesday 13th if you would like to take part (he needs at least 10 people to make it worthwhile to put on). Please keep an eye on www.niorienteering.org.uk for further information.
