Upcoming Events

There are two great events coming this week

Hill and Dales – Slieve Loughshannagh

This is the longest and most testing race of the Hill and Dale series.  It acts as an hour long  summary of all that is good about fell running.

The race starts by climbing the grassy runnable slopes of Ott and Slieve Loughshannagh.  Once around the carn on Loughshannagh there is a steeper descent before running through a chalky peaty bog path to Doan.  The ascent of Doan is rocky but runnable, aside from the top where runners will be on their hands and knees scrambling up the short crag to the top.  The next section asks all the questions with a rough technical descent off Doan, followed by a flatter run around Loughshannagh before the last, very steep, climb up Carn.  From the top of Carn it is a grassy, but wet, descent all the way to the finish – Can you find the good line down?

As this is a mountain race on exposed ground all competitors must be bring full body cover.  Look forward to seeing you on Thursday.

Irish Championship Round 2 – Carrauntoohil

After the first round of the Irish Championship on Donard the series moves south to Kerry.  This promises to be an exciting race and there are a number of athletes making the long journey down from the north.  Details on the route can be found here.
