Glenariff

Congratulations to Sharon McBurney on winning the Ladies Race in the Glenariff Mountain Race on Saturday, 22 March. Sharon won in 53:13, breaking the record set by Shileen last year. In the Mens race, Brian Ervine led uphill and on the descent, followed closely by Neil Carty, each trying to get a better line on the route down. However on the long flat section to the finish, Neil used his superior speed to pull away, winning in 42:48, 32 seconds ahead of Brian. In the process Neil also broke his own record of 2002. In the good conditions most runners also improved on their 2002 times. The event was generously sponsored by Glens of Antrim potatoes and efficiently organised by Ballymena Runners.
