Newcastle AC

Fri 15 August 2003 - Ian Taylor

Best wishes to Newcastle AC as they travel to the Brecon Beacons for the final round of the Br Championship series. The race is over 19 miles, with 4500 feet of ascent.
Newcastles vet40 team is currently in first place in the series, with three wins and a second place to Horwich with 2 wins, a second and third. However if Horwich beat Newcastle the two teams will tie on points. The results are then decided on places in each counting race, with the odds stacked slightly in Newcastles favour.
In the open mens team Newcastle are fourth with 27 points behind Pudsey & Bramley with 31.
Individual places are just as keenly fought. In the open mens category Robbie Bryson is in third place (177 points) just ahead of Mark Rigby (175), with Deon McNeilly in 15th position.
In the veteran 40 category the results are even tighter, with Robbie leading on 122 points, followed by Mark on 121 and Deon in third place on 107 points.
Have a great run, don do anything silly on Friday night and come back with some trophies!
