Fri 25 July 2003 - Ian Taylor

On Friday, 1 August is the 25th Anniversary run of the Scrabo Hill Race. This short 3.5 mile event takes place over Scrabo from Newtownards, with a junior race at 7.30 and the Open race at 7.45 pm.
To get to the start, take the main dual carriageway to Newtownards from Belfast. When approaching Newtownards you come to a roundabout opposite Ards Centre. Take a right turn at the roundabout along Blair Mayne Rd South. At the next junction the start is 100m to your left in the square.
The route goes up Scrabo Rd, with two laps of the top and returns to the start.
The records are held by Robbie Bryson 19:29 set in 1989 and N Murphy 24:35 in 1992. Recent times for men have not approached these with David Simpson & David McNeilly having a time of 21:48 in the last couple of years.
