Slieve Bearnagh 2003

The 1st round of the 2003 British Fell & Hill Running Championship sponsored by Pete Bland Sports & Walsh Sports took place today in glorious weather over a demanding Slieve Bearnagh course, which included 2,800+ feet of climb.

The race which was supported by Down District Council was won by Rob Jebb of Bingley in a time of 41:52, 34 seconds ahead of the Borrowdale brothers Jim & Phil Davies in 42:26 & 42:29 respectively. Angela Mudge was well clear in the woman?s race finishing in 35th overall in 47:57 with Louise Sharpe of Keswick tied for second with Nicola Davies (1st FV40) in 51:40.

Newcastle AC had a good day claiming 1st Vet team with Robbie Bryson 6th and second vet 40, Deon McNeilly 18th. They also claimed 4th spot in the team competition.
