NIMRA 2004 Championship Standings
Sat 22 May 2004 - Simon Taylor
The championship standings for the 2004 NIMRA championship has been updated to include separate listings for all vets categories. Currently Neil Carty of N Belfast looks like a strong favourite for the men?s overall title, however, as ever the vet?s categories are proving to be the most hotly contested.
The
Championship Standings are currently worked out on using the following criteria.
- You must be a member of NIMRA to score championship points
- In each category 30pts are awarded for a win and 29pts for second, down to 0 points, all those outside the top 30 are awarded 0 points.
- All members can score points in the open categories, However, points in the veteran categories are awarded to all those older than the veteran category, so a vet 50 can score in the vet 40 category ? so the older you are the more categories you can compete in.
- Runners will only be eligible for 1 championship prize, so a vet 45 can?t get a prize in the overall, vet 40 and vet 45 championships
A review of how the championship standings are calculated will happen before the 2005 championship, with one likely alteration being to increase the points awarded from 30 to 50 to prevent runners in the open category being awarded 0 points. However, if you have any thoughts on other changes ? perhaps veterans should only get points in their chosen category? Then please get in
