NIMRA Team Championship

Thu 27 May 2004 - Ian Taylor

In previous years we have had no official team championship. The following table shows the team position for the current year, with Newcastle leading both open and veteran men categories. However the competition behind is quite close, with ACKC finishing strongly in all races but being beaten by Ballymena at Donard but reversing this at Annalong. This year Larne has begun to appear in the team results, and may be strong enough to stay ahead of BARF and even move above Team Purple. Ballydrain would be much higher up if they could regularly produce a third counter. Of course to score you must get three athletes competing so, club secretaries, make sure you have a team at each of the remaining events.

If you have any comments about the points allocated please contact us. If your club is feeling generous and would like to donate a trophy please joint the queue!

On a technical note, the points have been allocated to team positions, including everyone, male & female, in the open category and counting veteran men only in that category but going by overall place in the race. Athletes do not have to be NIMRA members to count for teams ? but I am sure you feel out of it if you are not a member. Clubs need not be official NIAF clubs. The best five team places out of any of the nine Championship races will be included at the end of the season.
