Slieve Gallion Race

Fri 1 October 2004 - Ian Taylor

You are reminder that the last mountain race in NI before Christmas is on next Saturday over Slieve Gallion, near Magherafelt.

Last year the winners were Brian Ervine in 38:10 and Sharon McBurney in 44:58. Since neither is likely to be running the race is wide open, with Mark Alexander and Alwynne Shannon being second last year.
The race is particularly popular with juniors with Jamie Stewart last year having an excellent fourth place in 39:49. With the British & Irish junior Championship being the following weekend in Keswick this is a good opportunity to prove your race fitness. Indeed the team for Keswick is short of both a male and female runner at under 18 level. If you beat a current team member you could be invited to run at Keswick.

Further race details including location are elsewhere on this web site. The race is ably promoted by the Mid-Ulster Club and in particular Jonathan & Hugh McCloy.
