British & Irish Junior Championships
Mon 17 October 2005 - Ian Taylor
Congratulations to Michelle Sturm of Omagh, gaining
a Bronze UKA medal in the under 18 girls event at the British & Irish Junior Championships. England took first and
second places with other English and Irish team members behind
Michelle. Kerry Iveston of N Down had a good run in the same
category, finishing in 6th place. With one more athlete we could have
taken the silver medal team award!
The British & Irish Junior Championships were
organised by IMRA and held on the slopes behind Carlingford. I
guess we discovered that the standard at UKA Championships, even at
junior level, can be very high.
In the under 14 Boys, Mark & Michael Patterson finished in 14th and
15th positions. Our under 16 boys team was led home by Noel
Collins in 11 place, followed by Conor McLaughlin (17th), Patrick
Bogues (19th), Conor Moore (21st) and Ciaran Cooney (22nd).
Our under 16 girls found the competition tough, with Jessica Craig in
18th place, Kristian McCloy in 20th and Lauren Scott in 21st
positions.
The under 18 boys team was made up of Thomas Turner (18th), Brendan
OBoyle (20th) and Kieran Collins (21st). Full results are
available on the IMRA web site
www.imra.org
together with 184 photographs.
