Championship Update

Tue 17 May 2005 - Ian Taylor

The Championship positions have now been updated for 2005. Please see the link to the side of this news item. Neil Carty is in a strong position to retain his title, but is being challenged by Gary Bailey, and with two contributing events, Deon McNeilly, Brian Ervine and Edward Hanna are also in contention.

With two events completed, Anne Sandford is well ahead of other ladies, seeking to regain the title she first won in 1997.

In the veteran categories, Jim Patterson appears to be in his usual position ahead of everyone else from vet 40 upwards. However Deon has maximum points from two events so could overtake Jim in the vet40 group. Billy McKay is also a strong contender in the vet45 and older categories while Ricky Cowan has moved up in his vet55 category from last year and is now in a strong second position behind Jim. John Adgey is leading the vet60 category but could be overtaken by last years winner Billy Magee.

Note that currently the lists include all who competed as distinct from all who are NIMRA members. After Annalong, the results will be corrected with non-NIMRA members removed. In the mens championship this will take out half those in the first ten places - this is your chance to remain in the lists by joining NIMRA!
