Mid-Winter Tester

Mon 28 November 2005 - Ian Taylor

The annual mid-winter test of training took place yesterday, with the Seeley 10K in Ormeau Park. With a fairly flat course, the only excuse for a poor time is the weather and that, despite all the forecasts, made good running conditions. 34 or more regular or occasional fell runners took part, out of 405 finishers, as follows

Congratulations especially to Dessi McHenry, first in the vet55 category. Alwynne Shannon was 6th female overall, and might have been higher up if she could count what lap she was on. However she made up for that error by being first vet40, with teammate Clare Galbraith having a good run to finish third vet 40 (or above). Hugh Young was first vet65 while Tom Donnelly must have had a sprint finish to claim second vet70 position by 9 seconds. And if you don recognise the first three athletes on the list as mountain runners, they have all been on World Trophy teams in the past few years.
