Fri 17 June 2005 - Ian Taylor
The International Snowdon race is on Saturday, 23 July. The Northern Ireland team of four men and three ladies is selected on the basis of Flagstaff, Donard Forest (Hill & Dale) and Slieve Donard on 24 June. If you are interested please inform one of the selectors. This can provide you with the opportunity to demonstrate international potential.
The
race itself is almost 10 miles in length with 980 metres of climb. It
follows the main footpath from Llanberis to the summit with return on
the same route. With hundreds of runners it is very competitive with
others always around to overtake. Being on a wide track in most parts
it is quite fast, with very little in the way of technical descending.
Just make sure you have good cushioning in your shoes, preferably with
built in water-cooling!
