Binevenagh Race

Congratulations to Alan Bogle (Derry) and Fiona Maxwell (Mourne) on their wins at a very competitive Binevenagh race last Saturday, with both breaking last years record.  Alan won in 51:30, taking almost a minute off his 2006 result and being well clear of Dion, Des, Don and Brian.  Regular mountain runners might be pleased that Alan will be concentrating on orienteering for the next few months, or equally, might be unhappy that an extra spur to competition will not be there.

Meanwhile Fiona Maxwell, fresh from an excellent Carnethy run, finished in 63:52, over three minutes faster than Hannah Shields record from 2006.  Hannah meanwhile was elsewhere finishing second at the Civil Service cross country.  Others at the latter event included Jim Patterson, second vet60 - just piped by a new and spritely vet60 Desi McHenry.

A record field of 55 participated in excellent conditions, over a well marked and marshalled course, with tea and sandwiches afterwards.
