Congratulations Fiona

Well done to Fiona Maxwell (Mourne Runners) on a great run at the second of the Br Championship mountain race series.  Fiona finished third overall and first vet40 in the ladies race.  The event was one of the short race counters held in North Wales.  After a seventh place at the first counting event, Donard-Commedagh in March, Fiona is now equal second in the overall ladies championship and first equal in the vet40 category.  Equally significant, she beat three of the athletes who were ahead of her at the Donard race.  The next race in the series is a long 20 miles event in the Lake District on 2 June.

Other Northern Ireland placings included Alwynne Shannon (Newcastle) 12th and Anne Sandford (Newcastle ) 16th.  In the separate mens race Mourne Runners Des Woods was 23rd and 4th vet40, Steve Cunningham was 50th, Brian Ervine 58th, Jason Wilson (Pegasus) 87th, Clive Bailey 93rd and Sam Herron 108th.  Jason was also 6th in the under 23 category, to add to his 3rd at the first race of the series.
