Snowdon International

Wed 8 August 2007 - Ian Taylor

Congratulations to Northern Ireland team member Frances Orr on her recent performance in the Snowdon Home International. Frances finished in a time of 1:33:32, 15th female and 121st place overall out of 467 finishers. Her ascent time was 1:01:09 with descent 32:34. Frances was well ahead of Irish team members including Tish McCann (1:38:04), Joyce Aoife (1:42:49), Sarah Moore (1:44:27) and Dena Hogan (1:51:29) - but at least they got two teams out. Frances time is the fastest ladies time from NI since 2004 when Shileen took 1:32:33 with Sharon McBurney taking 1:29:00 in 2003.

Shileens time in 2004 was when she was just getting back to fitness after her first baby. With number three just arrived (congratulations) can we expect some more competition for the ladies within the next few months?

The fastest Irish time was 1:10:29 by Eoin McKenna, probably the fastest from Ireland in quite a few years. The winner was Andi Jones in 1:05:36 with second place going to Ian Holmes (vet40), with an overall time of 1:08:14 including a very fast descent of 23:01 for the almost five miles of the return leg.
