Binnian Reminder

Tue 29 April 2008 - Ian Taylor

You probably don need reminded that we only have two local uphill only races this, with the first on Thursday, climbing Binnian.  - how you come down is optional. (The other uphill only race is on 17 July up Sl Donard). Those who complain that they cannot descend fast will have to find other excuses for poor performances on Thursday.

As an update on the race details elsewhere on this web site, after Robbies win in 2003 on this route, only Alan McKibbin has won this race, with his fastest time set last year in 21:45.  Who will challenge Alan for the title - and perhaps come close to Robbies time of 20:56?

For the ladies, Alywnne Shannon has won three times, in 2003, 2005 and 2007.  In 2006 Fiona Maxwell won and set a new record, with Alwynne returning to win in 2007 and retake the record by one second, with 27:12.  If neither Alwynne or Fiona have recovered sufficiently from their efforts at the Three Peaks race, then the title is there to be claimed.

As a further update on the race details, the price has increased to ?5 - almost ?3 per mile of course!
