NIMRA Showcases Mountain Running at First-Ever NI Running Show

The Northern Ireland Mountain Running Association (NIMRA) made a strong impression at the first ever NI Running Show Exhibition, held at the Eikon Exhibition Centre on 7th and 8th February 2026.

Over the two-day event, a dedicated group of NIMRA volunteers worked tirelessly to set up and staff the association’s stand, helping to promote mountain running and introduce the sport to a wide audience of runners from across Northern Ireland.

The NIMRA stand attracted significant interest throughout the weekend, with many visitors keen to learn more about off-road and mountain running. To encourage new involvement, NIMRA offered brand-new memberships at a discounted rate, resulting in a healthy number of new members joining the association over the course of the exhibition.

As an added incentive, all new members who signed up during the event were entered into a prize draw to win a pair of fell running shoes, adding extra excitement to the weekend and rewarding those taking their first steps into the mountain running community.

NIMRA member Jonny Steede praised the success of the event, highlighting both the level of interest shown and the efforts of those involved behind the scenes.

“It was a fantastic success for NIMRA,” he said. “I’d like to thank everyone who helped set the whole thing up and gave their time over the two days. The response we received really shows the growing interest in mountain running.”

The NI Running Show marked an important opportunity for NIMRA to raise its profile, connect with new runners, and celebrate the inclusive and welcoming spirit of the mountain running community.
