Snowdon Race Report 2025

The team selected for the event was Jared Martin (Ballydrain Harriers), Tom Crudgington (Newcastle AC), David Hicks (Newcastle AC), Joshua McAtee (Mourne Runners), Karen Wilton (Jog Lisburn Running Club), Tanya Cummings (Newcastle AC), Catriona Edington (Annadale Striders) & Naomi McCurry (Glens Runners).

Unlike the most recent iterations of this race, the team were met with clear skies and no wind. Some would say this is ideal conditions for a trail race, but the sweltering heat would only prove to increase the challenge of this already fast and technical course. The finishers tent, which was well stocked with water and cold energy drinks, was a welcome sight for the competitors.

Tom would lead the charge for the Men’s Team, summiting in 45:33 with Jared (48:14), Joshua (51:35) and David (58:43). The Men would hold this order for the descent; Tom descended in 27:19 giving a finishing time of 1:12:52 to finish 9th overall. Jared got down in 26:21 to finish with a time of 1:14:35 in 13th, Joshua in 28:44 for a total time of 1:20:19 (27th) and David in 30:09 giving a total time of 1:28:52 (58th).
The combined efforts of Tom, Jared & Joshua gave the Men a combined time worthy of the 3rd team prize. The English team would take 2nd and the Italians, after securing all 3 individual podium spots , would take 1st place in the team results also.

For the ladies, Catriona would lead the initial charge up hill but over the duration of the climb Karen and Tanya would settle into a good pace to reach the summit in times of 1:02:17 & 1:04:23 respectively. Catriona reached the summit 1:07:11 with Naomi not far behind in 1:09:30. The decent would only see one change of order for the ladies; Karen descended in 32:21 for a finish time of 1:34:38 (17th lady), Tanya in 34:02 for 1:38:25 (22nd lady), Naomi in 35:45 for a total time of 1:45:15 (28th lady) & Catriona in 39:12 for a finish time of 1:46:23 (29th lady).
As mentioned above the event was one by Italy’s Luca Magri in 1:06:11, with the women’s race being won by England’s Nancy Scott in 1:20:31.
