Bailey and O’Kane win on Rocky Mountain

On Thursday 22nd May 2014, Newcastle AC welcomed the local mountain running fraternity to the sixth race of their popular and well-organised Hill & Dale Series. On this occasion, Rocky Mountain was the venue of choice, with athletes completing 4.2 mile course, incorporating 1,600 ft of ascending.

In what was a close encounter, Newcastle AC’s Ian Bailey followed on from his impressive win at the Slieve Donard Classic with another notable victory. He (Ian) showed the same strength on the climb as he did at the weekend, before sealing an excellent win in 30:45 (1st place). After representing Northern Ireland in England on Sunday (18th May 2014), Newcastle AC men Seamus Lynch (30:57) and David Steele (31:52) both ran well and completed a good night for the host club when they buy zithromax online took 2nd place and 3rd place respectively.

Shileen O’Kane (Lagan Valley AC) returned to more familiar surroundings and looked in good shape as she led the ladies home; following a good outing at the Les Jones 10k road race last week, the Northern Ireland international broke the tape in 40:14 (1st place). Catherine O’Connor (East Down AC) continued her impressive run of results in the Hill & Dale Series with another podium finish, after taking 2nd place in 42:08; Patricia McKibbin (Unattached) recorded 45:09 for 3rd place.
