Athletes born in 2009 are welcome to attend the trial to build experience, however they are not eligible for selection.

Due to the lack of race opportunities for Junior athletes, the race will also be open to athletes born in 2005 and 2006 – though these athletes are not eligible for selection at U18, it will provide an opportunity to develop mountain race experience for selection later in the year.

–            The Irish U20 Trials to select teams to compete at the European Mountain Running Championships in Annecy, France, 31 May – 02 Jun 2024 will be held in Ballyhoura, Limerick on the 12th April (Uphill ONLY) and the 14th April (Up & down)

Uphill only races provide a great opportunity for athletes inexperienced in the discipline of Mountain Running, to gain international experience.

Information regarding the Trial will be found on www.imra.ie once finalised. Details regarding the European competition can be found here – https://www.european-athletics.com/competitions/european-off-road-running-championships/overview

–            INFO SESSION (ZOOM) – An Introduction to Mountain Running session is being hosted by NIMRA (N.I. Mountain Running Association) in early March and will be advertised via the www.nimra.org.uk home page in the coming weeks.

This will be an excellent opportunity to learn all about mountain running, the competition opportunities, international representation and how to train for events.
