RunThrough Lake District 53k & 23k Ultra Trails | 11th April 2026
Selection will be based on comparable ultra races completed from 1st September 2025. Anyone interested in selection must detail distance, time, result and location as NIMRA will not have any long races to use as selection being so early in the year but IMRA have two ultras being Slí Chorcaí near Cork on 7th February being 60.5 km and Aherlow ultra in County Tipperary being 50k on 7th March.

The 2026 Inter-Counties Mountain Race will be held on Sunday 3rd May at the People’s Hall, Howgill Lane, Sedbergh, Cumbria LA10 5DQ.
The race will incorporate the trial for the Senior ‘Up-and-Down’ race at the European Off-Road Running Championships to be held in Kamnik, Slovenia from 5th-7th June 2026.

Selection criteria: Teams will be selected on at least one of the following: Slieve Gullion 7th March & Glenariff Race 14th March and any evidence of recent comparable races (distance and ascent close to the race distance) to show current form but reason must be given to the selection panel that they are satisfied the athletes’ reason for not competing in any of the selection races was genuine and unavoidable. Must register interest in selection before 20th March by emailing Anne Sandford at annerunning@hotmail.co.uk. Teams will be selected shortly after this date and successful athletes contacted shortly after that.
Men and Female teams can comprise up to five runners including at least one team member who is under 23 (if they have not reached their 23rd birthday by the 31st December in the year of competition). The first three from each team will count
