Length: 15.35km (7.16km ascent, 7.19km descent, 1km flat)

Elevation: 994m

Ascent Grade: 13.4% (max 32%)

One male and one female Team will be selected which combines both Snowdon Race and Senior Home International Race on current form up to 3rd June and normally based on at least three of the following: 25th March British Championship Race, 22nd April Annalong Horseshoe, 13th May Slieve Donard race, 27th May Pat Dunbar Memorial (Leitrim Lodge) and 3rd June Cairncastle Classic. Teams will be selected on or just after 3rd June and successful athletes contacted shortly after that. Comparable races will also be considered to show current form but reason must be given for not competing in selection criteria races. COURSE DETAILS:
The route is two laps on the Howgills, over Winder and Arant Haw. The race start and finish are above Lockbank Farm and access to the fell is along the public footpath by the farm. Please close all gates.

The course will be marked and marshalled.

PROGRAMME:
There will be two races, with the women starting 15 minutes before the men: 

  • 2.00 pm: Senior Women Up-&-Down Trial 14 km & 760 m ascent/descent.
  • 2.15 pm: Senior Men Up-&-Down Trial 14 km & 760 m ascent/descent.

Senior teams will comprise of 6 athletes being 4 Seniors and 2 under 23 years old.

Selection criteria: Teams will be selected on current form up to 14th April and normally based on at least one of the following:  Glenariff  11th March, British Championship Race 25th March, Castlewellan Hill & Dale 13th April. Comparable races will also be considered to show current form but reason must be given for not competing in selection criteria races. Teams will be selected after 14th April (Castlewellan Hill & Dale) and successful athletes contacted shortly after that.  Must register interest in selection before 14th April by emailing Anne Sandford at annerunning@hotmail.co.uk.
