British Fell and Hill Relay Championship 2023 (Keswick)

This year’s British Athletics Fell & Hill Running Championships is being hosted by Keswick Athletic Club. The event will take place at Braithwaite near Keswick.

Pre-Entry Window 1:  UK Athletics Championships Category.

  • M Open
  • F Open
  • MV40
  • FV40
  • Teams of 6.
  • One team per club in each championship category only.
  • Entries open on 1st August and close on 20th August.
  • Invited teams will then have until 31st August to confirm entry and pay.
  • Final team names to be declared by 9am on Friday 20th October.

Pre-Entry Window 2:   All other teams and categories until event full.

  • MV50
  • FV50
  • Mixed (Any age, 3xM/3xF)
  • V60 Open (any combination of M/F)
  • Mixed Open (non-competitive, any make up allowed)
  • Teams of 6.
  • Plus, any additional teams from clubs, or clubs unaffiliated to UK Athletics, for M Open, F Open, MV40 and MV40.
  • Entries open on 1st September and close on 20th September.
  • Invited teams will then have until 30th September to confirm and pay.
  • Final team names to be declared by 9am on Friday 20th October.

Pre-Entry Window 3:  Teams on waiting list.

  • Invitations will be sent out to any teams placed on the waiting list from 1st October.
  • Final team names to be declared by 9am on Friday 20th October.

Courses

  • Leg 1: solo.
  • Leg 2: pairs.
  • Leg 3: paired navigation.
  • Leg 4:  solo.

Runners aged 16+ on the day of the race may compete in leg one only, otherwise it’s 18+ for all other legs.

Further details of each leg will be released nearer the time.

Recces – Recces allowed following the release of the course maps in September 2023.

GPS usage – GPS usage is prohibited for navigation purposes.

Event HQ – Braithwaite, near Keswick.  Exact location to be confirmed in September.

Start time – 11am.

Competition Rules – UK athletics rules will apply.

Kit – Full FRA kit required.

Parking – ​Braithwaite. £10 per car. Coaches/minibuses by prior arrangement. Exact location will be released in September.

Accommodation – Overnight camping available at the Event.

Club Tents – Allowed.  One per club, maximum 3m x 3m, except by prior arrangement.

Food and Drink – Entry fee includes food and drink for all competitors.  Food and drink available for non competitors on site or in the local village.

Impact

  • We aim to lower the impact of our event.  As such, we have some small requests:
  • bring your own cutlery, water bottle, mug or flask.
  • Travel by bike or in full cars or minibuses.
