Kevin O’Boyle and Rachel Brown claim top honours at Glenravel Festival

On Monday 19th August 2013, nearly one hundred runners took part in the annual ‘Twin Peaks’ 5k race (distance approximate) in Cargan, County Antrim, a race organised as part of the popular Glenravel Festival.

Kevin O’Boyle (Ballymena Runners) continued his good form, which saw him win the Cushendun 10k and more recently, take a podium place at the Lurig Challenge, to lead the field home in an impressive 15:20. Emmett McAlister (Ballymena Runners) finished close behind Kevin in Lurig, and replicated that here, crossing the line in 15:34 (2nd place). Another Ballymena Runners man, Alex Brennan, completed the top three when he covered the distance in 16:11.

In the ladies race, young Ballymena & Antrim AC star Rachel Brown used her track speed to claim first place in a fast order lamisil online finish. Rachel clocked 19:28 to finish just three seconds ahead of Catherine McLaughlin (Unattached), who claimed 2nd place in 19:31. Helena Dornan (Ballycastle Runners) secured 3rd place in 20:34.

As part of the week long festival, organisers will also hold a 10k road race, the Skerry 10k on Sunday 25th August 2013. The race will take place in Newtowncrommelin and will start at 1pm.
