NIMRA LEAGUE RACE

 

Mullaghcarn Giant Race – Saturday 25^th July 2026

Route:

The Mullaghcarn Giant race hosted by Carmen Runners will start from the Gortin Glens car park at 12pm. The route will cover 12km distance and 500m total ascent. Runners will summit the most southerly peak of the Sperrins, Mullaghcarn (542m), where the Giant stands. The route continues down the bog, therefore trail shoes are advised. The course will be clearly marked and have marshals along the route.

Entries Open: Thursday 5th June 2026 at 08:00

Entries Close: Wednesday 22nd July 2026

Entry Fees: £13 affiliated, £15 un-affiliated

 

Race numbers will be restricted to 200 people.

Online entries only. Entries will not be available on race day.

Minimum entry age is 18.

 

Timing:

Timing will be using SI Cards (aka dibbers) and Control Boxes. At each checkpoint the card should be dipped into a hole on the control box.

All runners must report to the race control at the finish area and return their SI Cards, whether they have completed the course or not.

Race Kit: 

Please make yourself aware of the essential kit list required to participate in a fell running race prior to entering. This will include: Hat/buff, gloves, waterproof jacket with hood (taped seams), waterproof bottoms (taped seams), foil blanket, fully charged mobile phone, route map, compass, emergency food. You should also have the means to carry all the kit in case required.

All runners must bring the above items to the race. The actual kit to be carried during the race will be finalised on the day, depending on conditions, and clearly advised at registration.

Please note walking poles, headphones or earbuds are not permitted in accordance with NIMRA race guidelines.
