The courses will be marshaled, and marked at any points where the route isn’t obvious.

Entry Details
Entry is on the day only, apart from those pre-entered by their national federations for the senior home international competitions, and costs £5 per athlete for all events. Registration is at the Football Club Pavilion in Fitz Park.

The senior/under 23 races are open to athletes born before 1994. Although the senior races incorporate the senior home international events, the races are open for all to enter. Please note however that only those eligible for UKA team selection may gain ranking points in the UKA Mountain Running Challenge. See separate section below for details of the 2013 UKA Mountain Running Challenge.

Individual and team medals will be awarded for the senior home international competition, see separate section below.
The junior races are open to athletes born in 1994 to 1997 inclusive. No younger athletes may compete in the junior races.

All three races incorporate the trial races for selecting UKA teams for the European Mountain Running Championships. See separate section below for details.

Safety (VERY IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ)
All competitors must bring water/wind proof long sleeve top and bottoms, hat and gloves and must be prepared to carry them if the organizer specifies they must do so. The races finish high up on an exposed mountain side/summit and the only protection you will have from the elements is the gear you carry (unfortunately there is no way the organizers can transport kit to the summit). Failure to comply with any minimum kit rule will result in disqualification.

Any athlete who retires from the race must report their retiral to a race marshal.
Athletes are responsible for making their own way back down the mountain after the finish. We strongly recommend that you follow the race route (main Skiddaw Path) back down the mountain to the Latrigg Car Park, then take a right turn and follow the main path round the side of Latrigg back to Keswick. The route from the summit back to Fitz Park is approximately 7.7km.

Facilities

The event base/registration is at the Football Pavilion in Fitz Park, where changing facilities and toilets are available. There is no designated event parking, but there is plentiful free and pay & display parking within five minutes walk of Fitz Park.

Senior Home International

The event incorporates the 2013 UKA Mountain Running Senior Home International. Teams have been invited from England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales and only those selected by their national federation will be eligible for the purposes of scoring and prizes.

Medals will be awarded to the first three individual finishers in both the male and female senior and under 23 categories. There will also be team medals for the first three male and female national teams with the first four finishers to count. Note that for team scoring, there will be no differentiation between senior and under 23 athletes.
