NIMRA Championship Race & Ulster Championship Race

We invite you to visit the Mournes for a race over two of its inspiring summits: Lamagan and Binnian.

The Route

Start: Black Gate on Carrick Lane (344 228)
Checkpoint 1: Lower Cove Gap (334 261).
Checkpoint 2: Lamagan Cove Track Summit (331 267)
Checkpoint 3: Lamagan Summit (328 260).
Checkpoint 4: Binnian Summit (321 235)
Finish: Black Gate on Carrick Lane (344 228)

The route will not be marked and while there are trails on some parts, participants should have adequate navigational ability and/or knowledge of the mountains to ensure that they can complete the course. There is no prescribed route but runners must visit all of the checkpoints, in order.

Minimum safety kit to be carried will be as described on the FRA website: FRA-Requirements for Runners  Failure to comply with these requirements will result in disqualification. Kit will be checked before the race and there may be random checks at the finish.

Refreshments will be available after the race but please note that no cups will be provided so please bring your own.

Withdrawal will be permitted up to the closing date for entries and fees will be refunded less £3 to cover expenses.

This event is run on open mountain where conditions are challenging and weather can rapidly deteriorate. Anyone wishing to enter should ensure that they have appropriate experience of mountain running, are competent in navigation and are carrying the appropriate safety kit referred to above.

The race will be based at the last car park as one travels up Carrick Lane from the Head Road. Signs will be in place. There will be car parking available at the following cost:

Vehicles with one occupant: £4, vehicles with two occupants £3, vehicles with three or more occupants: £2.

If the event is cancelled for any reason refunds of entry fees will be made less £3 to cover expenses.
