World Masters Mountain Running Championships

The 20th World Masters Mountain Running Championships were held on 3rd September in the beautiful region of the Stubai Valley in Austria.  5 of us made the journey across to Austria, flying into Munich and driving into Austria.   Beautiful weather and location greeted us and our race start was a ski lift to the first station from Fulpmes.  Jim Patterson ran in M70 having a strong run to finish 14th in his category.  Peter Bell and Mary Mackin were next off in M65 and F65 category, Mary having a great run to finish 8th for her first taste of Masters and will definitely be back for more.  Peter came 37th in a large entry in his category and happy with his run as just coming back from injury.  Anne Sandford was next off in W55 coming 14th and Hazel McLaughlin then in W45 coming 20th and 4th Team.  A noticeable few ran for GB & Northern Ireland nor Ireland but Ireland did pick a individual silver by Ger Maloney in M60 and Leo Mahon 7th in M75.

A great trip in great company.  All roads now lead to Clonmel Co Tipperary next year for Ireland to host the World Masters for the first time.
